Beginning with the motto “the devil is in the details”, when it comes to fashion the accessories game can play an important and mysterious role. Offering a multitude of options that cherry on the top can often be considered more important than the garments themselves. However in the realm of accessories, socks frequently seem to be forgotten or perhaps overlooked.
Socks were in fact first created for a specific reason, with their name deriving from the latin soccus – a loose-fitting slipper worn by Roman comic actors. However nowadays they can serve different purposes depending on the wearer, offering a strong aesthetic point of view in both men’s and women’s attire. There is a certain allure to being caught off guard by this small yet poignant detail – instantly conveying the personality of the wearer.
Socks come in a variety of sizes, textures and colours – some typical, others with a subculture scene attached. One could argue that the most playful is that of the sparkly variety. The sparkly socks fit with both a minimalist and feminine look, worn a mini skirt for a more seductive approach as well as working with a more masculine pantsuit to add just a hint of sparkle. Whether paired with heels, sandals or sneakers – sparkly socks offer an element of charm and intrigue with an added bonus being that they are a very budget friendly option from the accessory department. Let’s forget for a minute the expensive shoes and bags and embrace the underrated allure of sparkly socks.
